Creating spaces for people to connect around shared interests is a great way to boost engagement across your organisation. Whether it’s for pet lovers, podcast enthusiasts, or weekend hikers — these communities help users feel at home.
We also know how important it is to keep things relevant. Not every community needs to be visible to everyone — especially if it’s for a niche interest or a specific audience.
That’s why you can now control who sees each community. It keeps the list tidy, makes discovery easier, and ensures users only see communities that speak to them.
Adding Custom Visibility rules
When you are creating a community, or editing an existing community, you will have an opportunity add Custom Visibility rules.
This will allow you to add any profile fields, whether they are Blink's default or custom fields, to be the criteria for whether the community should be visible to the eligible users.
This will just make the community visible to those eligible, but it will not automatically add them. The user must still click 'Join' to be part of the community. The user is always free to leave this community after joining it.
