Blink integrates with UKG to keep your workforce data in sync automatically. This article covers what is supported for each UKG product, how the sync works, and what your team needs to provide to get started.

What UKG integrations does Blink support? Blink supports automatic user sync with UKG Ready. The integration retrieves employee data from UKG Ready twice daily and syncs it to Blink. UKG Pro integration is in development. Setup is managed by Blink's team - contact your implementation manager or solutions architect to get started.

📋 What data does the UKG Ready sync include?

The following fields can be synced from UKG Ready to Blink:

  • First name and last name

  • Email address

  • Mobile and work phone numbers

  • Job title

  • Department

  • Location

  • Company name

  • Manager

  • Employee ID

  • Employment start and end dates

  • Active status - used to activate and deactivate accounts in Blink

Once a field is synced from UKG Ready, it is locked in Blink and can only be updated in UKG Ready.

💡 Groups are not currently synced as part of the UKG Ready integration. Group membership in Blink can be managed manually or via Dynamic Teams rules based on synced profile fields such as department or location.

⚙️ How does the UKG Ready sync work?

Blink's UKG Ready integration retrieves an employee report from UKG Ready via its API. This report includes both active and inactive employees and is processed by Blink to create, update, and deactivate accounts.

  • The sync runs twice daily, always 12 hours apart

  • You can specify your preferred sync time when setting up the integration

  • Inactive employees in UKG are deactivated in Blink when the sync runs

  • An optional email notification with sync results can be sent to a nominated address after each run

The integration is not self-serve. Blink's team configures and manages it on your behalf.

🛠️ How do I set up the UKG Ready integration?

Setup is managed by Blink's implementation team. To get started, you will need to provide the following from UKG Ready:

  • Service account - a dedicated service account (username and password) created in UKG Ready for Blink to use. UKG provides a setup guide on their community site.

  • Company Short Name - the ID used to identify your organization in UKG Ready.

  • API Key - found in UKG Ready under Api Keys in Company Configuration.

  • Active Report Settings ID - the ID of the saved report for active employees in UKG Ready.

  • Inactive Report Settings ID - the ID of the saved report for inactive employees, if separate from the active report.

  • Base URL - the URL for your UKG Ready API instance.

  • Preferred sync time - the time you would like the sync to run each day. It will run twice, 12 hours apart.

  • Notification email (optional) - an email address to receive sync results after each run.

💡 Before the integration goes live, your team will be asked to review a dry sync - a preview of the data Blink will import. This lets you confirm field mappings and user data look correct before the live sync begins.

⚠️ What are the current limitations?

  • Not self-serve - setup and configuration is handled by Blink's team, not via the admin portal.

  • No group sync - Blink does not currently sync UKG team or group membership. Groups must be managed in Blink separately.

  • Location name matching - location names in UKG Ready must match exactly with location names in Blink. Mismatches can affect Dynamic Teams membership rules.

  • Sync cadence - the sync runs twice daily. Changes made in UKG Ready will not appear in Blink immediately - allow up to 12 hours.

  • UKG Pro not yet available - UKG Pro integration is in development.

How do I get started with UKG Ready integration?

Contact your Blink implementation manager or solutions architect. They will guide you through the setup process, including what credentials and report IDs Blink needs from your UKG Ready instance. You will be asked to review a dry sync before the integration goes live.

How long does UKG Ready setup take?

Once Blink has the required credentials and access, setup typically takes around two working days. The timeline depends on how quickly your team can provide access and review the dry sync results.

What happens when an employee leaves the organization?

When a user's status is set to inactive in UKG Ready, they will be deactivated in Blink the next time the sync runs - within 12 hours of the change.

Can employees edit their profile in Blink once the sync is active?

No. Fields synced from UKG Ready are locked in Blink and can only be updated in UKG Ready. Fields not included in the sync remain editable by the user in Blink.

Our location names in UKG don't match Blink - what do we do?

Location names must match exactly between UKG Ready and Blink for Dynamic Teams rules to work correctly. Raise this with your Blink implementation manager before the sync goes live - they can help you agree on a consistent naming convention and update records on both sides.

When will UKG Pro be available?

UKG Pro integration is currently in development. Contact your Blink representative for the latest timeline.
