Why to use the "formatted name" field in Blink
We understand that many users may go by a name different from what your organization has listed in your HRIS system. This field allows your users to have their preferred name visible on Blink without changing their name in your other systems or your user sync.
How to set up this field
In the “Users” tab, Org Admins, People Admins and Group Admins can add a user’s formatted name. Simply navigate to the desired user and entered their preferred name in the designated field.
FAQs
Why is this field greyed out/uneditable? | This field will only be editable if the user profile is managed via a user sync with a source outside of Blink. |
What fields does this override? | The formatted name field overrides both the user's first and last name, so you should add both names in the formatted name field. |
Where will this formatted name be visible? | If a user has a formatted name instead of their original (provisioned) name, it will be displayed across Blink (feed posts, comments, chats, profile, directory, etc.). The formatted name will also override the provisioned name in search results. |
Will the user's provisioned name still be visible anywhere? | The end user will see their formatted name within Blink but their provisioned name will be visible to admins within their profile within Users in the Admin Panel.
