What’s a Story

Blink Stories is a feature that allows users to share photos and videos that disappear after 72 hours. This feature helps users share moments from their day in a casual and creative way.

Who will benefit?

Stories is for organizations wanting to encourage a culture of informal sharing across their workforce.

Stories enables:

  • A clean feed: light-hearted content stays in Stories

  • A drumbeat of content

  • A familiar social media experience that will resonate with younger workforces

  • Another tool for comms managers to diversify their messaging & increase their reach

Stories use cases

High volume of content

As a retail store manager, I post stories throughout the day to show-off our flagship launch of a new product.

I have a couple of snaps of the pre-open queue, some video snippets of influencers in store, and pictures of campaign giveaways. I close the day with a short selfie video showcasing the day’s successes.

Stories help me create buzz and energy around my day. My audience can dip into my Stories and share in the moment.

Informal content

As a bus driver, I like uploading videos of me playing the banjo and sharing my new tunes with colleagues.

The Stories feature enables me to share lighthearted content that my audience can view and interact with, without cluttering the feed.

Internal engagement campaigns:

At our Logistics factory we want to encourage everyone to post a selfie when they see our brand in public spaces.

Stories help keep 100s of selfies out of the feed but we’re still able to create a buzz and have some fun together.

FAQs

How are Stories moderated?

A user can report a story from within the story itself.

Stories are not ‘approved’ by anyone before posting.

Who can post Stories?

All users are able to post stories.

If a user is restricted from feed posting, they will also be restricted from story posting.

How are we discouraging inappropriate posting, given the nature of this feature?

Stories are governed in the same way as feed posts today. Stories are saved against a user profile to encourage accountability.

How can Stories be accessed?

On mobile: via the Stories carousel, notification centre, and a user’s profile (for archived).

On web: via the Stories widget or from notifications.

Who can Stories be shared with?

We have kept restrictions in line with feed posting.

The audience picker will default to the user’s largest audience to maximize reach.

What order are Stories shown in?

They’re shown in order of posting; with your first post shown first. This is in line with other social media platforms.
