š» Feed Post Categories
When creating a Feed post, selecting a category is mandatory. Categories:
Visually organize shared content.
Enable filtering by specific categories for better navigation.
Default Categories
When you first set up your Blink instance, the following default categories are available:
Category | Intended Use |
Social | Share fun and exciting updates about you or your team, such as events, challenges, competitions, or personal news. |
News | Ideal for company updates, team news, progress, successes, recognitions, or announcements. |
Question | Ask questions to colleagues for advice, opinions, or input. |
Poll | Create interactive posts for voting. Poll responses are anonymous, visible only as totals to the author and admins. |
Priority | Reserved for urgent or crucial updates. These posts send push notifications, pin to the top of Feeds, and require acknowledgment. Admin-only. |
Setting Up Custom Categories
To enhance communication, you can add custom categories. While you can create unlimited categories, we recommend limiting them to 10 or fewer for optimal usability.
Restricted Categories
Some categories can be restricted to Admins only, creating a distinction between admin-generated and user-generated content. To explore this option, contact our Customer Support Team.
Best Practices for Setting up Categories
š Do | š« Don't |
Choose background colors that ensure icons stand out. | Avoid pale colors, grays, or yellows that reduce visibility. |
Review existing categories to avoid duplicates. | Reuse icons or colors unless absolutely necessary. |
Select icons that clearly represent the purpose of the category. | Use overly generic icons that might confuse users. |
