How chat admins are assigned and what to do when there isn't an admin in the chat

In most cases, the creator of a chat will automatically be assigned as the admin. Anyone who is assigned as the admin will have the necessary access to assign other users as admins.

However, there may be times when there is no admin assigned in a particular chat. In those situations, any user in the chat will have the opportunity to claim the admin role through the steps detailed below.

How to "claim admin" in a chat

  1. In the chat window, click on the ℹ️ icon in the upper right corner.

  2. At the bottom of the information view, you will see an option labeled "Claim chat admin"

  3. Simply select this option and you will be the admin of the chat. With this access, you'll be able to assign other users as admin if desired as well as update chat participant permissions.

Can any user in the chat "claim admin"?

Yes, any user in the chat would have access to the "claim admin" button; however, only the first to select it will actually be able to become admin.

There's no admin assigned but I don't see the button.
