Updated over a week ago

Keeping your app updated is important so you aren't missing new features and releases. This also ensures you aren't missing out on any patches, bug fixes and security updates.

In this article:

Updating your Webapp (using Blink on a browser window)

  1. Press CTRL + R or CMD + R to refresh the app

  2. The latest version will install

💡 Helpful Hint

Please note that having an out of date version of your browser also impacts Blink app performance. Keep your browser on the latest version for better results.

Updating your Desktop app

  1. Quit out of the Desktop app

  2. Reopen the Desktop app

  3. The latest version will install

💡 Helpful Hint

Clicking "Check for Updates" will only check for updates to the framework that the desktop app lives in - it won't necessarily reload the latest version of Blink, so you still need to close and reopen the desktop app to load the newest version.

Auto updater issues

If the auto updater is not automatically installing the latest version of the app and you remain on the same version, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the app on your device. You can find the latest versions here.

I installed a fresh version of the app but still see the old version

I am being asked to enter payment details

Blink is free to an end user, this is a common occurrence on the Google Play Store. Every now and then a pop-up will appear asking you to enter your payment details if you haven't entered them onto the Play Store previously. Blink is free to all end users as the licenses are paid for by your organization. There will be an option to press Skip in the bottom right, click that and Blink will start installing

Apps won't install from the Google Play Store

If the Blink app won't install, and other apps won't install either, then there is an easy fix.

  1. Open the system settings

  2. Find where it says 'Apps' and open it

  3. You will find a list of your apps installed on your device (if you click 'Apps' and don't see this you may see an option to click 'Apps' again to find the list).

  4. Search for or find 'Google Play Store' and click on it, this will open a new page.

  5. If followed correctly there will be an option labeled 'Storage', click that.

  6. Click 'Clear data' and 'Clear cache'. This will require you to sign in, but you will not lose any information, your apps will remain, and the 'Google Play Store' may even run smoother.

  7. Head back to the Google Play Store and Blink, and all your other apps will start installing again.

Minimum operative system requirements

To run Blink on Android devices you'll need Android 5 (Lollipop) or newer.
