What is it?

The Ghostwriter feature allows users to post or comment on behalf of another user. For example people from your Communication Team can write a Feed post as the CEO.

Ghostwriter vs Alias

While both the Ghostwriter feature and the Alias feature allow users to post as other entities, there are some important distinctions that may make one or the other better suited for a specific scenario.

Ghostwriter

Alias

Can only be an existing user in Blink

Can be set up to appear as another user, team, or other entity

Uses the image and user details from the selected use for the post/comment author.

Uses the image and details added to the Alias in the Admin portal. These can be edited by admins at any time.

How does it work?

Org Admins and Content Moderators can setup a ghostwriter via the Admin portal by going to the Publishing Profiles section, selecting "Create Profile" and clicking the Ghostwriter option. They can assign as many ghostwriters as desired to a single author.

Both the Author & ghostwriter(s) will receive a notification if they are assigned a ghostwriter / as a ghostwriter.

A ghostwriter can compose a post/comment from the profile of the Author they are designated to (this is done the same way as posting as an Alias). The ghostwriter can post as the Author profile to groups that they (the ghostwriter) are allowed to post to and, at present, only the ghostwriter can edit the post. The ghostwriter will receive post notifications if notifications for the post are turned on.

Setting up a Ghostwriter

Ghostwriters can be created by organization admins and content moderators in the Admin Portal on the "Publishing Profiles" page.

Click the "create profile" button to the right and select the "Ghostwriter" option. On the screen shown below, enter the name of the user you'd like to set up and the names of the users you'd like to grant Ghostwriter access to. Once you're happy with this, click "create" and your Ghostwriter profile will go live.

Posting as a Ghostwriter

Users who have been granted Ghostwriter access will be able to both post and comment as the designated user on the Feed via the same steps used to post/comment as an Alias.

Posting
