Introduction

This integration allows you to start a Teams chat from within the Blink app. Once configured, your team will be able to to create a (or navigate to an existing) Teams chat from within Blink. This can be done from a 1-2-1 chat or a group chat of 15 or less people. Channels are excluded from this functionality.

The "starting a Teams chat from Blink” integration must be set up in conjunction with “Sharing Blink feed posts to Teams”. Thes two parts are synonymous with each other, meaning you can’t turn on one without the other.

Using MS Teams Integration

  • A Teams chat can be started from 3 places within Blink.

    • From within the user’s profile

    • From within a chat in the information panel

    • From within a chat in the user’s mini profile (by clicking on the user’s picture)

  • A chat can be started from a 1-2-1 chat or from a group chat with a maximum of 15 users. It cannot be created from a channel.

  • Once any of these buttons are clicked, the following browser window will open. If you have the app downloaded, it will also launch this automatically.

  • If you don’t have the app downloaded, you can choose to download it or to use the Webapp which will open the chat in a new browser.

What we need

In order to configure this integration, our team will need a few details from your organization.

  • Tenant ID

  • Client ID

  • Client Secret


⚠️ Limitations

  • The email addresses in Blink must match the UPNs in MS.

  • This integration is currently only available for the Webapp and Desktop Apps.

  • Is this feature available to anyone?

    • Yes - it needs to be turned on manually for each organization though, so please submit a ticket to our support team.

  • Is it available on all platforms?

    • This feature is currently only available on Web & Desktop.

  • Is it possible to set up just this part of the integration and not any others?
