Instructions for managing reported content for moderation

Updated over 5 months ago

As a Team Admin, you are responsible for moderating content that is reported by your team members as inappropriate. Read more about moderation best practices.

You will be notified of an Open Report in your dedicated task space:

On web, an ! icon will appear in your menu showing your open report tasks.

On mobile, you can view and action open report(s) in your tasks space, which will pop-up at the bottom of your screen:

From your tasks space, you can view and process your open reports.

  1. On web, click the ! icon to view open reports. On mobile, open the tasks bar and then select open reports at the top of the screen:

2. Your open reports will be summarized in a tasks list showing:

  • The number of users who have reported the content

  • The reason(s) the content was reported

  • A copy of the content that has been reported

  • Buttons for actioning the open report: keep or remove

3. If you require more context for processing the report, you can view it in the Feed by selecting the chevron next to the task:

4. Selecting the task chevron takes you to a new screen where you can see the user(s) who reported the content as well as the option to view the original content:

  • Once you have assessed the content sufficiently, you need to select whether you want to Keep or Remove it. The app will request that you confirm the selected option:

    • Keep: this will keep the content in the Feed and the Feed will remain unedited.

    • Remove: this will remove the content from the Feed, including all the direct replies to that content:

Example: Raj Sharma’s comment was reported and subsequently removed, which also removed Andre Robinson’s comment (see both screenshots below):

5. Once the report has been kept or removed it will disappear from your open reports and move to your closed reports.

Closed reports can be found via the icon top right of your open reports tasks page:

Clicking on the icon will show a log of closed reports, including the name of the Admin who closed it and what action they took - kept or removed the content.

As a Team Admin, you will see a full log of closed reports that relate to the teams you administer.

I.e. if your team(s) have multiple Admins, you will see the reports the other Admins have closed as well. This helps you work together to maintain the same moderation principles.

FAQs

How do my users report content?

It’s simple for users to report content. Read more about the process here.

What does the user see if content is deleted?

The content (and its direct replies) will be removed from the Feed and there will be no record of it.

Should I inform the reporter of the outcome?

Absolutely! This helps your users follow best practice when reporting content. Read more about moderation best practices.

Should I inform the content composer of the outcome?

You need only inform the composer if you deleted their content. Read more about moderation best practices.

Can a user report the same content multiple times?

No, a single user is only able to report the same content once. However, multiple users are able to report the same content.

If multiple users report the same content, do I get multiple open report tasks?

No. You will have a single task that will show a count of reports made (e.g. the total number of users who reported the content).

If I choose to keep reported content and another user reports it, will I receive another task?

Yes. The new reporter may have a different reason for reporting the content, which may change your moderation decision.
