This article provides a step-by-step guide for processing reported content.
Summary:
Designated Moderators:
You will be responsible for overseeing reported content if you have one of the following roles in Blink:
A Group Admin:
Group Admins moderate the content they administrate. For example, if you are the Operations Group Admin you will be responsible for managing any reported content that was posted in the Feed or a channel where Operations Group was the audience.
An Organisation or People Admin:
Organisation or People Admins are responsible for moderating reported content in a number of scenarios.
When there is no Group Admin assigned: reported content is escalated to Organisation and People Admins if there is no assigned Group Admin to oversee the report.
When content isn't associated to a Group: reported content will be overseen by an Organisation or People Admin if the content wasn't shared with an established Blink Group.
Managing Open Reports
As a designated moderator, you are responsible for moderating content that is reported by your users as inappropriate. Read more about moderation best practices.
You will be notified of an Open Report in your dedicated task space:
On web, an ! icon will appear in your menu showing your open report tasks.
On mobile, you can view and action open report(s) in your tasks space, which will pop-up at the bottom of your screen:
From your tasks space, you can view and process your open reports.
On web, click the ! icon to view open reports. On mobile, open the tasks bar and then select open reports at the top of the screen:
2. Your open reports will be summarized in a tasks list showing:
The number of users who have reported the content
The reason(s) the content was reported
A copy of the content that has been reported
Buttons for actioning the open report: keep or remove
3. If you require more context for processing the report, you can view it in the Feed by selecting the chevron next to the task:
4. Selecting the task chevron (shown above) takes you to a new screen where you can see the user(s) who reported the content, the reason they reported it, and any optional additional information they provided. You can also select View to see the original content:
Viewing the original Feed content: This will take you to the original Feed post and comments, which the moderator can oversee for full context.
Viewing original content from a chat or channel: this will surface a maximum of 20 contextual messages to provide further information around the content that has been reported. The content that was reported will be highlighted in red when you view the conversation:
Once you have assessed the content sufficiently, you need to select whether you want to Keep or Remove it. The app will request that you confirm the selected option:
Keep: this will keep the content where it's been posted.
Remove: this will remove the content, including all the direct replies to that content:
Example: Raj Sharma’s comment was reported and subsequently removed, which also removed Andre Robinson’s comment (see both screenshots below):
5. Once the report has been kept or removed it will disappear from your open reports and move to your closed reports.
Closed reports can be found via the icon top right of your open reports tasks page:
Clicking on the icon will show a log of closed reports, including the name of the Admin who closed it and what action they took - kept or removed the content.
As a designated moderator, you will see a full log of closed reports that relate to the groups or users you moderate.
I.e. if your groups(s) have multiple Admins, you will see the reports the other Admins have closed as well. This helps you work together to maintain the same moderation principles.
