Blink Lens is a powerful AI tool which will analyse your Blink data using natural language queries.

Getting started with Blink Lens
Open the Blink Lens screen from the admin panel
Under ‘Blink Lens’, select a data model (if you know which kind of data you are looking to search – for example, ‘Feed posts’) – or, select 'All data models' and the AI will select the model based on your query
Ask a question of the AI in natural language – for the best results, add a timeframe and business area, so the AI knows where to focus its effort
Example queries include:
‘How many users are in Activated status in my organisation’?
‘How many feed posts were sent to the Marketing group in the last week’?
‘Which users have posted the most comments over the last two weeks’?
‘How has the rate of app opens changed for the Operations group over the last three months’?
Blink Lens will process your query – this may take up to a minute, as the AI searches through all the relevant data and synthesises the results
Finally, Blink Lens will provide you with your answer!
Using Blink Lens for sentiment analysis and thematic analysis
Blink Lens performs well at synthesising large amounts of text-based data. One of its main use cases is for pulling out sentiment and themes from your Feed and Comments data.
Your employees are discussing various topics every day on the feed and comments – Blink Lens can help you to leverage this data to understand what matters to your employees, how they feel about key topics and organisational changes, and what their overall sentiment is at any given time.
Here’s how:
Open the Home screen of Blink IQ from the admin panel
Under ‘Blink Lens’, select the ‘Feed posts’ or ‘Feed comments’ data model
Ask a question like:
‘What are the main topics users have been discussing on the feed in the last week in the All Company group’?
‘Analyse the sentiment expressed in the content of feed posts for the last week’
‘Analyse the themes discussed in the content of comments for the last week’
Blink Lens will pull out all the feed or comments data, synthesise it, and provide you with a summarised version of what has been discussed!
Note: Blink Lens is AI and can make mistakes. For the best results, be as specific as possible in your questions. Blink Lens cannot infer any details that are not captured in your Blink data. For the most reliable statistics that you will want to revisit over time, use Blink IQ dashboards.

What is Blink Lens?
Blink Lens is Blink IQ's natural language AI search. It lets you ask questions about your organization's data in plain English, instead of building a report or dashboard from scratch.
What AI technology powers Blink Lens?
Blink Lens is built on ThoughtSpot's Spotter, the natural language search feature of the ThoughtSpot business intelligence platform that powers Blink IQ.
Who can use Blink Lens?
Only org-level admins (Organization Admin, People Admin, Content Moderator) and group-level admins (Group Admin, Content Creator) can access Blink Lens.
What data can Blink Lens see?
Blink Lens can query a defined set of Blink IQ data models, built from Blink's production databases, Mixpanel usage data, and user profile fields. This includes things like feed posts and comments, group membership, hub activity, journeys, moderation reports, and account activity.
Row-level security still applies. Org-level admins only see their own organization's data, and group-level admins only see their own group's data.
Does Blink Lens have access to chat messages?
No. Chat message content is excluded from every Blink Lens data model. It's never available to Blink Lens, no matter how a question is phrased.
Can Blink Lens analyze sentiment?
Yes. Sentiment analysis is one use case of Blink Lens, not a separate feature. It only runs when you ask for it, for example "analyze the sentiment of all feed posts over the last 6 months."
Can Blink Lens analyze sentiment for one specific person?
Yes, if you ask it to. Because the underlying data includes individual feed posts, you can ask a question like "analyze the sentiment of the feed posts sent by [user name] over the last 6 months" and get a result for that individual, as well as aggregate-level questions.
What can Blink Lens be used for?
Blink doesn't restrict the types of questions you can ask Blink Lens. It's designed for communications and engagement insights, and you and your organization decide how to use it day to day.
Can I see what data Blink Lens used to generate an answer?
Yes. Every Blink Lens answer comes with the underlying data shown as an expandable table or visualization, so you can see exactly what informed the response.
Can I audit Blink Lens conversations?
Yes. Blink Lens follows Blink's standard data request process. If you need the input or output of a Blink Lens conversation for compliance reasons, submit a compliance request and we'll provide it.
Does Blink Lens use my data to train AI models?
No. Blink Lens runs under a zero-training policy:
Your data is never used to train or fine-tune the foundation models of our LLM providers.
Data is used only to generate insights for your current session, and it's never shared with other entities.
Blink Lens never sends entire tables or databases to an LLM provider. It only sends the filtered results needed to answer the specific question you asked.
How is my data protected when I use Blink Lens?
Data in transit to the LLM is encrypted with TLS/HTTPS, and LLM-generated data is encrypted at rest (AES-256).
Retention periods for feed content and chat message volume are configurable by your organization.
Access is controlled through RBAC, SSO, and MFA.
What certifications does Blink Lens rely on?
Both Blink and ThoughtSpot hold ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certifications. Blink also maintains a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) for ThoughtSpot and Blink Lens, which is reviewed and updated as the feature evolves.
