The new Blink branding will be rolled out across mobile, desktop and website.

Common questions: what do I need to know?

  • What will I have to do and how much work is involved?

    • We recommend that you communicate this change to your employees ahead of time, so there is no confusion when their app icon changes, but we want to make this as light-touch and easy for you as possible.

    • Your resources

      • A Feed post template you can share on Blink (shown below).

      • User FAQs you can attach to your Feed post, or to create your own.

      • A QR code your staff can scan to update their mobile app

      • A Poster to put up in communal areas as a visual prompt for staff

      • You can also use our brand guidelines and logo kit for updating any of your internal materials.

    • Following the webinar on August 30th we will share posters which can be printed and distributed onsite along with a rebrand pack containing some fun engagement ideas like competitions & polls.

    • There will be an in-app (mobile apps only) pop up for all users, from September 11th, notifying them about the upcoming change. Everything will be confirmed in upcoming communications.

  • How should I notify my employees?

    • For messaging to your employees, some recommendations are below:

      • Post 1: “The Blink logo & colors will be changing on 18th September. Don’t worry, nothing about the app or its functionality will be different, but you will notice your mobile app icon change. You can see what to expect in the image below. We want to make you aware of this change now, so there are no surprises on 18th September. More on this coming soon!”

      • Post 2: "Keeping your Blink app updated! It is important to keep you mobile app updated so you aren't missing new features, functionality and bug fixes. You will only be able to see Blink's new mobile app icon branding once your app has been updated. Check out the article here or scan the QR below to update your app."

    • Make use of the scheduled post settings to plan all your comms in advance

    • All posts are optional, you know your employee best! But you could also take this as an opportunity to engage with your staff using the fun ideas below:

      • Poll: Guess the new Blink Icon color!

      • Competition: Name the Blink friend for your organization!

      • Competition: Spot the Blink friend! Hidden somewhere in our Hub pages

  • How will my employees know about these changes outside of a Feed post?

    • All Organization Admins and Content Moderators have been notified by Blink Support, their Customer Success Manager, or their Implementation Manager via email. We will provide digital and print materials to help you communicate this to your frontline employees in upcoming communications. Additionally, there will be an in-app pop-up for all mobile users from September 11th notifying them of the upcoming change(s). Everything will be confirmed in upcoming communications.

  • Can I opt out of or delay this?

    • Unfortunately, we do not have the option to delay or cancel the upcoming brand updates. We apologize for any inconvenience and we’re happy to help if you have any questions.

  • What will be changing in this update?

    • The Blink logo and colors will update in the mobile icon as shown below; however, the Blink layout, functionality, navigation, and app features will remain the same.

    • If you, like most of our customers, have customized branding on Blink, this will not change.

    • The only things that will change are:

      • The app icon

      • The logo in the Admin Panel view

      • The branding for users during the registration flow.

    • Our Helpdesk materials will also reflect the new branding across all resources.

    • Starter Packs in the Admin Portal will also reflect the new branding

  • Will there be any downtime during the transition/rollout/launch?

    • There will be no downtime.

  • Will the rebranding require an app update?

    • Users for the mobile app will need to update their app as usual. Their Google Play/App Store will show there is an update available for Blink. If they have auto-update settings turned on, the updates will typically apply within 24 hours.

    • All changes to the web app will happen when the browser/web page is refreshed.

    • For most desktop app users, the new version will automatically be downloaded in the background. The Desktop and notification icons will update the next time the app is closed and reopened.

    • We recommend your employees keep their apps up-to-date in order to make sure they benefit from the latest optimizations, bug fixes and functionality. The rebrand would be a worthwhile touchpoint just to remind your staff to keep their apps updated.

    • The QR below can be scanned to take users directly to the app store to update their app. This will also be on the poster we have provided.

For our new clients

  • I haven't launched Blink yet. What does this mean for me?

    • If you're launching before September 18th, you'll use our existing branding on any training or pre-launch materials. A branding pack will be shared at the end of August so that you have everything you need to announce the change on September 18th. If you're launching after September 18th, you can use the branding pack shared on August 30th for any training or pre-launch materials.

  • Is this going to impact my launch timelines?

    • Not at all! Your existing launch timelines won’t be impacted by this change. If you have any specific questions, please contact your Implementation Manager and they'd be happy to help.

  • What if I am creating pre-launch materials with the existing Blink branding?

    • A branding pack will be shared on 30th August with all the materials you’ll need. You will also be able to access all of our newly branded Blink Launch Kit materials on September 18th. If you need anything sooner, reach out to your Implementation Manager who can assist.

This page will be updated regularly as we approach the new branding launch date so be sure to check back with us!
